With a jillion TF continuities all over the place, it stands to reason that we should just pick one and stick with it, right?
Totally right. So, without further ado, the timeline with current events:
4 million years ago: The Great War begins. Optimus Prime and his crew smash into primordial Earth, followed closely by Megatron.
Thirty-odd years ago: The eruption of Mount St Helens in Portland, Oregon, wakes up the Ark and the crew of the Nemesis.
We are totally ignoring movie continuity, so suck it, Trebek.
TV continuity is so all over the place that we're ignoring all of that, too. Sorry, TFP! We loved you.
A few years ago: After IDW G1 comic continuity events on Cybertron, the War is declared over. Displaced Cybertronians begin returning to the ravaged planet in response to a mysterious call sent out by the planet itself, to 'come home'.
- Apparently Bumblebee is in charge now. Prime has gone AWOL.
- NAILs (Non-Aligned Indigenous Lifeforms) who have returned to Cybertron resent rule by any of the old factions.
- Megatron is presumed dead, but we all know that'll never stick.
- Starscream becomes a member of Bumbleebee's provisional government.
- Not all Cybertronians decide to return home; some ignore the Call and stay where they have roosted for millenia, others remain with their own colonies.
- So far, not all Cybertronians really care about the Great War going on back home, and are more concerned with the remnants of the War that remain on their doorsteps far, far away. So despite the official declaration, many sections of interstellar space are still at war.
- But some sectors are actually trying to give peace a chance, and have willingly or begrudgingly attempted peace talks with reparations and a general willingness to forget the past and work/live together.
- And in some places, the Great War hardly registers as news. The Cybertronians who live in those places could give approximately zero fucks about factions or whatever.
- But some Cybertronians just insist on bringing the war with them anywhere they go... and some of them can't just drop it, because of Reasons.
- And on the far-away planet Panguul, in the sprawling trade city of Intybus, are where some of these Cybertronians have decided to live and work... for now. But can they get along during the new peacetime? Or will old habits die hard?

This is the story After the Fact; Ex Post Facto.
